Taking profits are extremely important when trading. After all, you only make money when you actually close a position (TP) and take money off.

There are several ways to calculate the amount of profit (as a percentage) to be taken on each TP, so here are a few basic formulas that I am using and can be applied, or adapted, with your own trading strategies.

Short-Term (Secured Trade):
3 x TP: 40/40/20
4 x TP: 35/25/25/15
5 x TP: 30/20/20/20/10

Short-Term (Aggressive Trade):
3 x TP: 20/40/40
4 x TP: 15/30/30/25
5 x TP: 10/25/25/20/20

Long-Term (Holding):
3 x TP: 30/35/35
4 x TP: 25/25/25/25
5 x TP: 20/20/20/20/20

Moving Stop-Loss to Breakeven.
The Breakeven point/level is a situation of no profit or loss. Whenever you take a trade, you will have a Stop-Loss, which you can move to your Buy Entry level once the price has gone in your favor, usually after reaching your First Take-Profit target.
